Safety of the LEO AGVs

The LEO AGV is equipped with many safety features

Safety has played a key role in the development of the BITO LEO Transporter.

The BITO LEO transporters are equipped with various sensors and safety features. LEO detects obstacles and restarts automatically after the obstacle has been removed. The transfer stations are also part of the safety concept: the transporters enter at a reduced speed to avoid injuries when removing the containers. Constant monitoring of the container positions ensures safe operation. Bi-directional communication between the transporter and the transfer stations prevents a transporter from entering a station that is already occupied.

The system has been developed in close cooperation with the BGHW and complies with ISO 3691-4:2020 for automated guided vehicles. BITO LEO transporters are certified according to the Machinery Directive 2006/42/EC.

What safety features do LEO transporters have?

Some of the many safety features of the LEO transporter and transfer station

OBJECT DETECTION ON THE TRANSPORTER

The sensor system detects obstacles and brakes in time. The detection fields are variable. The LEO transporter automatically restarts when the obstacle is removed.

FOAM BUMPER

A foam bumper provides redundant collision protection for people.

AUTOMATIC STOP IF THE OPTICAL TRACK IS NOT DETECTED

As an additional safety precaution, if the optical track is not detected, the vehicle automatically stops after a maximum of 0.5m.
